Three Kings Parade 2015 Date, Time, Location: Where to Celebrate Día de los Reyes in NYC, Miami & Chicago
Día de los Reyes takes place on Jan. 6, and for Latinos, it is a time to commemorate the day that the Three Wise Men gave Jesus presents. It is also known as Epiphany.
Children also receive presents on this day. Similar to Santa Claus, children leave treats for the camels and their shoes outside on the eve of Día de los Reyes. The next day they awake to find presents.
The holiday officially ends the Christmas season. It is customary to eat a Rosca de Reyes, an oval-shaped cake that has a baby Jesus doll inside.
For many Latinos, it is also a day to attend Día de los Tres Reyes Magos parades and other events. Here's where to go across the United States.
New York
El Museo del Barrio will be holding its 38th annual parade. Starting at 11 a.m. on Jan. 6, the parade will feature camels, floats and presents. The parade goes from 106th Street and Lexington Avenue and goes to 115th Street and Park Avenue, according to the museum.
There will also be a parade on Jan. 11 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Brooklyn. It will be below the BQE train underpass at Meeker and Graham avenues, according to Centro Voices.
Miami
Miami will be starting its Three Kings Day celebration a little later.
The parade will take place on Jan. 11. The event will take place along the famous Calle Ocho, and there will be celebrities, floats and food.
Cary, North Carolina
Cary has hosted a Three Kings Parade since 2004, according to the CaryCitizen. The 2015 event will take place on Jan. 10 from 1 to 2 p.m. on North Academy Street. Families who pre-registered will get food and gifts.
Boston
In Boston, families can celebrates Three Kings Day at Villa Victoria Center for the Arts on Jan. 9. The event starts at 6 p.m. and ends at 8 p.m. Children will be able to take pictures with the three kings.
Chicago
On Jan. 6, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. there will be a Three Kings Parade at Humboldt Park Field House, according to Paseo Boricua. Motorcycles, fire trucks and trolleys will move from Campbell Street and Division Street to Sacramento Boulevard and North Avenue.
