Nick Cannon filed for divorce from Mariah Carey after settling property terms with lawyers, TMZ reported.

Back in December as rumors of the couple's divorce got out, Mariah Carey settled with completely detaching the star from her new deal in Las Vegas. Court papers show that Nick filed for divorce on Dec. 12.

A day before the divorce was confirmed, the "We Belong Together" singer announced that she will be living in Vegas at Caesar's Palace, according to CBS News.

"This is a special event for me," Mimi said in a taping of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."

"And again, I have to hope that the fans will enjoy this cause I'm going to be performing, which was kind of inspired by my album '#1's,' and this is now the updated version with 18 of them."

Carey along with other artists like Celine Dion and Britney Spears have taken their talents to Sin City and there is speculation that Jennifer Lopez will do the same.

Meanwhile, her relationship has failed despite her many career achievements. The 44-year-old star's soon to be ex-husband took to Twitter to speak out about their split.

"During this challenging time for me and my family it saddens me that the media can be such evil bottom feeders..." he wrote.

"Because my family and I haven't been forthcoming with personal information, people are quick to paint negative pictures and spread rumors...For the record I NEVER have, nor will I make a statement regarding my marriage."

He added, "What infuriates me most is to hear people slander @MariahCarey . I will forever be indebted to her for blessing me with our children..."

"I will always love her unconditionally for this and so much more. @MariahCarey is an amazing Mother and I trust her wholeheartedly..."

Although Nick continued to stay mum about his relationship with Mariah Carey, he wanted to speak out about false comments about their relationship stating that the media is spreading false information.
