The Phoenix Suns are currently 24-18, just barely holding on to a playoff spot with the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference.

This Suns squad can very well make their first playoff appearance since the 2009-10 season. According to multiple reports, the Suns are attempting to trade center Miles Plumlee before this year's NBA trade deadline.

Plumlee isn't an elite big man, but he is young and he does have value. Still just 26 years old, Plumlee averages 6.4 rebounds per game, and 11.4 rebounds per 36 minutes. This season Plumlee ranks second on the Suns in blocks, but his free throw shooting hasn't been improving, now notched at just 50 percent.

Plumlee has one year remaining on his contract, in which he is scheduled to make $2.1 million next season, and then he will be a restricted free agent. There's plenty of NBA teams that could use a young big man like Plumlee.

One team that may show interest in the former first round pick is the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers are allowing the second-most points in the league (106.5), only one spot ahead of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Both Jordan Hill and Robert Sacre have been in trade rumors this season, as well. As a team, the Lakers rank 21st in the league in defensive rebounding. Obviously Plumlee won't come in and be the next Wilt Chamberlain or Shaquille O'Neal for the Lakers, but he can offer a lot of interior support.

Carlos Boozer has been demoted to bench minutes, and the Lakers are allowing far too many points against. Earlier reports also indicated that the Suns were open to trading Goran Dragic, who also has just one year remaining on his contract that expires next season. Lakers point guard Jeremy Lin is in the final year of his contract, but it is unlikely he will be traded this year.

But, would these two Pacific Division rivals be willing to do business with each other?

The New York Knicks have been a disaster this season, but Team President Phil Jackson may want to add some youth for the future. With Tyson Chandler no longer on the roster, the Knicks defense now ranks 22nd in points allowed and 28th in defensive rebounds. No, Plumlee isn't the second coming of Patrick Ewing, but this Knicks team has to make adjustments, and trading for Plumlee could be a risk-free addition.

Carmelo Anthony has the second-highest total of rebounds for the Knicks this year, a very bad sign. Anthony, primarily a scorer, can't be asked to do everything on both sides of the court. Another factor to consider is Amar'e Stoudemire. Stoudemire, who is the final year of his contract, is the best rebounder for the Knicks, and there's a good chance he will walk in free agency.

Another team that may want to show interest is the Cleveland Cavaliers. With Brazilian big man Anderson Varejao out for the season with a torn Achilles, and Kevin Love not exactly showing a lot of desire to play defense, Plumlee may be an option. Even LeBron James isn't playing elite defense this season like we've seen him play in the past and he's resting more than ever. Adding depth to the bench would be beneficial for the Cavaliers.

In return, the Suns are seeking a late first round draft pick for Plumlee. Plumlee won't help a team offensively very much, but he plays solid defense in the post area that can block and alter shots. Most likely, at least one team will be willing to give up that value for Plumlee this season.

The NBA Trade deadline is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 19, at 3 p.m. EST
