The first teaser trailer for "Chronicle" director Josh Trank's much-discussed reboot of "The Fantastic Four" finally hit the world wide web and it looks marvelous.

Surprising, given that this is the first glimpse of any official footage or even images of the film itself, which many perceived the making of the film to be in peril, with insiders noting a troubled and/or disastrous production. The advertisement unveiled in advance of the U.K. debut of Matthew Vaughn's "Kingsman: The Secret Service," the espionage action thriller based on the comic book by former "Fantastic Four" co-writer Mark Millar.

Forbes writer Scott Mendelson notes, "it's clear that the film is going for something resembling hard science-fiction that just happens to be based on a comic book. And considering how much I (and others) talk about how the comic book superhero film can only survive if it diversifies in terms of genre, well, this looks like a step in the right direction." In a trailer with commentary, director and filmmaker Trank agrees with Mendelson as this was his intention.

"I really wanted to see science in science fiction, which I think we kind of rarely see," Trank said.

According to ComingSoon.net, the release of the teaser comes hot on the heels of last night's costume reveal, which bypasses the iconic blue and white (or blue and black, as of late) latex body suits that has become the calling card of the super-powered quartet.

"It was your idea to have these suits that had a real science function to and we, well, you turned them into containment suits," Kinberg said. "And they would help them control, contain these powers. They really needed them."

This may signal the first of many differences Trank's film shall have to 20th Century Fox's first outing with the property a decade ago with Tim Story's 2005 beat 'em up "Fantastic Four" and its lackluster 2007 superhero sequel, "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer."
