Holmes' guest starring role on "Ray Donovan" marks her first major series acting gig since appearing on WB television drama "Dawson's Creek" from 1998-2003, Entertainment Weekly reports.

According to People, Holmes will play "a shrewd and chic businesswoman named Paige, the daughter of billionaire producer Andrew Finney (Ian McShane), who enlists Ray's services."

In addition to "Ray Donovan," Holmes is also gearing up to play the role of Jackie Kennedy once again in the miniseries, "The Kennedys: After Camelot." Flming for the "The Kennedys" will take place in Canada in the spring.

Prior to the "Ray Donovan" news, Holmes admitted that she experienced a bit of a dry spell in acting following her public split from Academy Award-winning actor Tom Cruise.

"It's the life of an actor," Holmes told Du Jour about the dry spell. "We don't really have a lot of choice in the matter. You have dry spells, and then you have times when there is a lot of opportunity."

Despite her ups and downs as an actor, however, Holmes insists that she developed more confidence in her skill.

"I think I've gotten more comfortable with acting over time," Holmes explained. "Early on, I could never get out of my head. I'd be thinking, 'I have to get the job.' And even when I had the job, I was afraid that I was going to get fired. Or I just had the mentality of, 'I need to be good enough. The more projects you do, the older you get, the more life experience you get, you start to understand storytelling better. So you're a little bit more confident going in. You're not afraid of getting fired: You just want to contribute."
