The Seattle Seahawks are on the cusp of NFL history.

Trying to win their second consecutive Super Bowl, they must first defeat the New England Patriots this coming Sunday. Pete Carroll, Richard Sherman and the "Legion of Boom" create an elite defense, and they have just one game remaining this season.

Here are five things the Seahawks must do if they want to win the Super Bowl, again:

1. Run Beast Mode, A Lot

The Seahawks offense is based directly on the run game. This season the Seahawks ranked first in the NFL in rushing yards, first in rushing touchdowns, and second in rushing attempts. Most of this is thanks to running back Marshawn Lynch, who had 1,306 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground. Lynch is by far the best back in the league when it comes to yards after contact, and the Seahawks will look to establish the run game early. Whether or not Lynch says anything to the media in the postgame press conference remains to be seen..or, in his case, unheard.

2. Blitz

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady isn't mobile, he's a pocket passing quarterback. As we've seen in the past, when you blitz and get through the Patriots offensive line, the entire offense shuts down. The New York Giants did just that twice in the Super Bowl. If the Seahawks can blitz directly up the middle and get to Brady, the game may get out of hand like we saw last year against the Denver Broncos.

3. Stop Gronk

The Patriots don't have a great deep passing game. Brandon LaFell is good in the mid range game, Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola are slot receivers, thus leaving Robert Gronkowski. Despite being a tight end, Gronkowski still led the Patriots in receiving yards and touchdowns this season. Most likely safety Kam Chancellor will keep an eye on Gronkowski early and often because of his powerful defensive abilities. Gronkowski is the most important receiver for the Patriots because he creates so many matchup problems and can get first downs so often. If the Seahawks take away Gronkowski, it will put huge pressure on other players.

4. Get Doug Baldwin Involved

Although Seattle passed the football the fewest times in the NFL this season, they are usually successful when they do so. The Seahawks' best wide receiver is Doug Baldwin, who had a team-leading 66 catches and 825 yards through the air. In the NFC Championship game, Baldwin had 106 receiving yards. After Baldwin, Seattle does not have a great set of wide receivers that put up huge statistics. The Patriots' pass defense ranked 17th in the NFL this season, so the Seahawks won't be facing an elite secondary.

5. Run Russell Wilson

Part of the reason the Seahawks' offense is tough to beat is because of Russell Wilson's mobility. This year Wilson had 849 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns, which is good even for a running back. If the Patriots' blitz Wilson, it could be extremely dangerous because he can take off and run at any time. Wilson and Lynch running for huge yardage creates problems for defense because it keeps the opposing offense off the field and controls the time of possession. The Seahawks have successfully run for more than 100 yards in 17 of their 18 games this season.
