A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection to the murder of beauty queen and actress Monica Spear.

According to the Daily Mail, Gerardo Jose Contreras was arrested after being tied to the highway robbery that ended in the death of Spear and her husband Thomas Berry.

Spear and Berry were traveling with their daughter, Maya, when they had an accident on the highway. Then, their car was surrounded by armed men. Though the couple locked themselves into the car, the armed men made their way after shooting the car.

Contreras is the 11th suspected connected to the murder. In September, three men were sentenced to 20 years in prison for the crime.

Recently, Spear's "Pasión Prohibida" co-star, Jencarlos Canela, paid tribute to Spear.

"One year ago today, I lost a friend, and I didn't talk publicly about a song that I wrote for her because it was hard to sing and I didn't do it with intention of sharing it with the public," he said on the one-year anniversary of her death. "Today in honor of her and all of those who have felt the pain of losing someone, for everyone who also feels the emptiness left by Monica, I share it. #MonicaSpear #NeverForget #Amiga."

Migbelis Castellanos, who was crowned Miss Venezuela in 2013, also talked about Spear on the day.

"Today I am flying to be #VENEZUELA like you were in 2005 @monicaspear," she said on Instagram. "Knowing you was a great honor and source of pride for me. I'm glad that I let you know that. No one deserves to die at the hands of the criminal underworld. Like all Venezuelans, I also remember you today with the sweetness that characterized you. #NeverForget Rest in #PEACE monica."

In 2014, the Miss Venezuela organizers faced backlash for not honoring Spear, according to La Opinion.
