Sean "Diddy" Combs has reportedly pulled his son from a role on the hit new TV show "Empire" over a fight about music publishing rights.

The New York Post reports Combs demanded his 23-year-old son Quincy leave the cast after he learned part of his contract required him to sign over rights to songs he performed on the show to airing network Fox.

According to The New York Post, stars on the show are required to sign contracts similar to those of performers appearing on such shows as "Glee" and "American Idol" are obligated by, which stipulate that the network that air the songs receive a percentage of ongoing income generated by them.

"Diddy kicked up a huge stink and called all the top brass at 20th Century Fox TV to get them to change their rules over music rights," a source told the newspaper. "He said there was no way his son was signing over his intellectual property. So he banned him from the show."

Quincy recently released his first single "Friends First," and show creators insist they remain hopeful he will appear in the series at some point in time.

"Lee's super excited about having Quincy on the show," said a source.

Reps for Combs and Fox have declined to comment on the reported dispute.

Quincy is the natural son of Comb's longtime girlfriend Kim Porter and R&B singer Al B. Sure.

"Empire," the Lee Daniels' hip-hop drama, chronicles the life and times of a family owned hip-hop record label and stars Terrence Howard and Taraj P. Henson. The show has been touted as one of the "hottest" on TV this season, with actors and musicians alike lining up to make guest appearances. "Empire" has already been approved for Season 2 with world-famous supermodel Naomi Campbell booked to guest star.
