Jencarlos Canela Says Eva Longoria Is His Type of Woman
If Jencarlos Canela had to choose between his "Telenovela" co-star Eva Longoria and another woman, the decision would be easy, even if the other woman was Jennifer Lopez.
"I would always choose Eva Longoria, who is the person that I have the pleasure of doing the series with," he said on "El Arañazo, according to La Opinion. "I would choose Eva without any problem, even though I would shed a few tears for JLo. My soul would cry seeing JLo leave out that door."
This was Canela's response when he was asked about his preference in women, and it was the possibility of working with someone like Longoria that got Canela to come out of retirement. "Pasión Prohibida," Canela's last telenovela, aired in 2013, and since then he had been in talks to star in at least one telenovela.
Now, Canela will be back to juggling music and acting.
"It's for the entire world and that's what interested me in this project and what I most loved," he said. "I have always said I am an artist before anything else and I have the tour and many other things happening, so I said that the day I returned to television, it would be in something special. And we waited, and we waited... We were patient and then this great opportunity to do the series, which is a 'Friends'-type sitcom, arrived."
The actor recently wrote a touching message on the one-year anniversary of the death of Monica Spear, someone Canela worked with and considered a friend.
"One year ago today, I lost a friend, and I didn't talk publicly about a song that I wrote for her because it was hard to sing and I didn't do it with intention of sharing it with the public," he said on social media. "Today in honor of her and all of those who have felt the pain of losing someone, for everyone who also feels the emptiness left by Monica, I share it. #MonicaSpear #NeverForget #Amiga."
