'Pirates of the Caribbean 5' Release Date and Cast News: Johnny Depp Reportedly Marries 'The Rum Diary' Co-Star Amber Heard
Actor Johnny Depp has gotten married, according to various reports.
The "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor had gotten engaged to actor Amber Heard almost a year ago and now they are married. They plan to have a ceremony over the weekend in the Bahamas.
According to People magazine, Depp, 51, and Heard, 28, married discretely on Tuesday in Los Angeles. The couple first met on the set of the 2011 film "The Rum Diary" and began dating soon after, after Depp ended his relationship with longtime girlfriend Vanessa Paradis.
Depp confirmed rumors he and Heard were engaged back in 2014 when he appeared wearing a ring.
"The fact that I'm wearing a chick's ring on my finger is probably a dead giveaway. Not very subtle," he said, laughing, when asked about the engagement.
The couple had a simple ceremony at Depp's West Hollywood home, reports Us Weekly. They then will head to the Bahamas for the formal ceremony at Depp's private island called Little Hall's Pond Clay.
"It will be a really simple ceremony," a source told Us Weekly. "Things are in a great place with them."
Back in March, the couple celebrated their engagement with a party at the Carondelet House and guests included Marilyn Manson, Steven Tyler, Mandy Moore and Jerry Bruckheimer, among others.
According to Page Six, the couple's ceremony at the island will be a small affair with around 50 guests, including Heard's family and Depp's children with Paradis: Lily-Rose, 15, and Jack, 12.
The wedding, taking place the weekend of Feb. 7-8, was arranged around the actors' busy schedules. The island is only accessible by boat or seaplane and has six beaches, two of which are named after his children.
"I don't think I'd ever seen any place so pure and beautiful. You can feel your pulse rate drop about 20 beats. It's instant freedom," Depp said of the island back in 2009.
Variety reports that "Pirates of the Carribean 5," which stars Depp, is already in pre-production with filming taking place in Australia. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on July 7, 2017 and will be directed by Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg.
