New Knicks New & Rumors: Carmelo Anthony Close to Sitting Out Rest of NY Season; ‘Knicks-for-Sale’ Website Launched
New York Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony admitted that he is close to shutting himself down for the remainder of the 2014-15 NBA season after aggravating his injured left knee on Monday.
Anthony, who has been bothered by knee soreness since their second game of the season, left in the 7:30 mark of the final period of their 109-95 loss to the Miami Heat on Monday after an awkward landing that led to a knee soreness.
Initial test results revealed no structural damage in his left knee, but Anthony will undergo thorough examination in the coming days. When asked about the possibility of sitting out the second half of the season, the 30-year-old admitted that he is now thinking about that option.
"I'm restricted, I'm not getting that power or that bounce, and then to do something like I did today, I think I'm getting closer to that point," Anthony said of deciding on whether or not to play in their last 30 games this season. "I think due to the lack of movement, the lack of explosiveness I have right now -- I'm just trying to compensate."
Anthony, who is averaging 24.2 points to go along with 6.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game this season, admitted that he will have to eventually undergo surgery this season, but he wants to delay it until after the 2015 NBA All-Star weekend, where he is set to play as a starter in the All-Star Game in front of their hometown fans.
Meanwhile, the group behind the popular website that called for N.Y. Jets general manager John Idzik's firing launched another website. This time, they are calling for Knicks owner Jim Dolan to sell the team.
Jason Koepell launched the Knicks4Sale.com website along with his brother Jared and friends Greg Kohler and Dan Filowitz in response to a controversial email sent by Dolan to a Knicks fan, where the team owner urged the disappointed fan to stop rooting for the Knicks and just support the Brooklyn Nets.
"This email that he had the nerve to send to one of his fans was the moment," Jason Koepell said of launching the website. "We talked last night -- the four of us -- and just said, you know what, we've had enough and we've gotta do something."
The website aims to raise $20,000 in donation to display a billboard near Madison Square Garden, where they will urge Dolan to sell the Knicks. The group did the same trick before, raising billboards calling for Idzik's exit, which eventually came into fruition after the Jets fired their general manager after the 2014 NFL season.
