The NBA features the very best basketball players from around the world. Yet as good as some of those players are, many get far more credit than they deserve.

Maybe they can't win or perform great when it matters most, or maybe their stats are just flawed.

Here are the top five most overrated players in the NBA today:

5. Rajon Rondo

Rajon Rondo puts up some of the best assists numbers in the NBA. However, he gets a little too much credit when it comes to ranking NBA players today. Despite playing 10 seasons in the NBA, Rondo's free throw shooting is getting worse. This season Rondo is making a dreadful 30.9 percent of his free throws, including just 26.3 percent with the Dallas Mavericks. Rondo's career free throw percentage is now just a mediocre 60.9. Rondo has also been criticized for holding onto the ball far too long on numerous possessions. It's also important to note that Rondo was the fourth best player on the Boston Celtics team that won the championship in 2008.

4. Kevin Love

Kevin Love can be a great Fantasy Basketball player to have in your league. But as far as making a huge impact on the game, not so much. Love spent six years with the Minnesota Timberwolves and he failed to make the playoffs even once. Love can hit three pointers better than any other power forward, but he lacks the fundamentals like a Karl Malone or a Tim Duncan in the paint area. Sometimes it looks like Love is an oversized shooting guard trying to play power forward. On top of that, Love isn't exactly a top tier defender, either.

3. Nick Young

Nick Young is a pretty good player, sometimes. A lot of people don't realize that Young has been in the league for nine seasons. Young has played for four teams over the last five seasons: the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Washington Wizards and Philadelphia 76ers. One has to wonder how such a "great" player keeps on bouncing around in the prime of his career. To make matters worse, Young's two-point shooting has decreased by more than 10 percent from last season. Young gets more notoriety than he should because of the franchise he plays on.

2. Derrick Rose

For a team that is "so talented" it's amazing how they fail to meet expectations every year. Injuries have played a factor, but Derrick Rose has failed to live up to the hype when it matters most. Surprisingly, Rose has only made it out of the first round one time in his career, back in the 2010-11 season. Part of the reason Rose gets injured so often is because of his reckless playing style. Rose isn't a distributing point guard like John Stockton, so he puts himself at a greater risk every time he drives to the basket. He's a very exciting player, but Rose is just an average passer who averages less career assists than LeBron James does per game.

1. Carmelo Anthony

In all honesty, this isn't even close. When Carmelo Anthony was drafted alongside James, it was dubbed the next "Larry Bird-Magic Johnson" rivalry. So much for that. Anthony's scoring numbers are the only things that warrant him being in the elite conversation. Anthony is a below average passer of the basketball, and he still struggles on defense. With a huge contract and just about every demanded answered by the Knicks (including trading away other players), one has to wonder if Anthony cares more about winning or just playing in New York City. In his 12 seasons in the league, Anthony has made it out of the first round just two times.
