'Doctor Who' Season 9 Cast, News & Premiere Date: Michelle Gomez Reprises Role as The Doctor's Nemesis 'Missy'
"I am back now and I am happy about that," actress Michelle Gomez said as she ate a "juicy apple" in a recent video for "Doctor Who." "I can't remember who ate the apple - was it Adam or was it Eve? Or was it the serpent, he was a bit evil...anyway I like apples! I am back!"
The Scottish actress Gomez who is reportedly the daughter of a father from Antigua by way of Montserrat, a family of Portuguese settlers, is re-joining the cast of BBC sci-fi hit series "Doctor Who."
This week, Gomez traveled to Cardiff, Wales to reprise her role as The Doctor's nemesis Missy for Season 9.
"Things have been a little beige since I left Missy behind, so I'm delighted to be putting my lippie back on. I'm positively dying to see the Doctor again!" Gomez added.
Gomez, who's known for her comedy roles in "Bad Education," "Green Wing," and "The Book Group," joins lead Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman, the latter who plays sidekick Clara Oswald.
According to BBC, which is tight-lipped on further details, Gomez will appear in the opening episode of the exciting new season.
"Everybody hide - Michelle Gomez as Missy was an instant hit last year, so she's straight back to plague the Doctor and Clara in the series opener," said lead writer and Executive Producer Steven Moffat. "But what brings her back into their lives is the last thing they'd expect."
Also kicking off Season 9 will be guests stars Jemma Redgrave alongside Kelly Hunter, as well as Clare Higgins and Jaye Griffiths.
What other characters are slated to return to the set?
Other guest stars confirmed for the new series include Daniel Hoffmann-Gill, Jami Reid-Quarrell, Aaron Neil, India Ria Amarteifio, Joey Price, Dasharn Anderson, Harki Bhambra, Demi Papaminas.
"The second two-part adventure to be filmed, 'The Magician's Apprentice' and 'The Witch's Familiar', is written by the show's lead writer Steven Moffat, produced by Peter Bennett and directed by Hettie Macdonald (Blink, the Hugo Award-winning Doctor Who episode)," the BBC adds.
"Doctor Who" is a BBC Cymru Wales production for BBC One and will be back on-air this Fall.
