Soccer Transfer News and Rumors: Real Madrid Should Pay More Than €100M for Paul Pogba, Says Agent
Real Madrid are reportedly interested in Paul Pogba, but the Juventus midfielder will come at a price if Los Blancos decide to pursue the budding superstar after the current season.
Mino Raiola, Pogba's agent, told reporters that he is not talking to Real Madrid about a possible transfer despite reports indicating that the Spanish club is interested in acquiring the midfielder.
But in the event Real Madrid try to lure the French midfielder, Raiola insisted that the Champions League holders should be ready to spend more than 100 million Euros.
"If they want Pogba, they can call me," Raiola said via ESPN, referring to Real Madrid. "I'm not going to call anyone there. He's worth more than 100 million Euros, but the price will be set by the club that buys him."
Raiola sounded like there may be an issue with Real Madrid. The agent said that Real Madrid had several chances to bring Pogba to Bernabeu, but decided not to spend money to acquire the French international when he still has a lower value in terms of transfer price.
"Back when they had their chance, they didn't really know who Pogba was," Raiola said. "Other clubs did. Real didn't want to pay 10 million Euros for him and just a year ago refused to pay 30 million Euros for him. We spoke in Qatar. 'Why pay 30 million Euros if soon he can come for free?' they asked."
Earlier this month, Raiola confirmed that Pogba, who has tallied six goals and two assists in 21 appearances for Juventus in the Italian Serie A, could move to a bigger club in the summer.
Jose Felix Diaz of Marca reported on Sunday that Pogba has complete control of his future. Despite signing a new deal earlier in the season, reports suggested that the 21-year-old could leave the club anytime he wants and most analysts are convinced that he will move to another club before his contract ends in June 2019.
Marca also reported that Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City and FC Barcelona are all keeping an eye on Pogba. Real Madrid are reportedly on top of Pogba's list, but it remains to be seen whether or not Los Blancos would be willing to break the bank to acquire the French midfielder.
