Irina Shayk Prefers Mexico Over New York, Says People Constantly Think She's Mexican [Pics]
Irina Shayk walked the runway for department store Liverpool Mexico during Fashion Fest, and the model was greeted by many fans who were eager to meet her.
Agencia Reforma reports that the 29-year-old model said she prefers Mexico to New York, according to La Opinión.
"I like Mexico more than New York, because it's too cold there," she said. "Here the climate is very warm and rich, people are beautiful and I love the food."
Shayk lives in New York, but after spending a few days in Mexico, she would not mind moving.
"I would love to be able to move here, being with you and enjoying this beautiful weather, on top of the incredible food: I love pico de gallo, whoever invented it is a genius," she said. "I want to eat it all the time."
Shayk had been in Mexico for two days, and she said she felt as though she were at home. And she added that it was an honor to be in Mexico. She also does not want to return to the cold New York weather.
And Shayk had only nice things to say about Mexican women.
"I have said many times that I love Mexican women because they are sexy, have incredible energy, love to celebrate and they like to show their sensuality," she said. "Also, Mexican women are strong and powerful."
Perhaps she feels this way because people constantly confuse her as Mexican.
"Wherever I go, whether it's Italy or Russia, they tell me I look like I'm from this country," she said. "Truthfully, I hope to look Mexican, and I hope it's the reason I was chosen to be the face of this campaign in Mexico."
Actor Jose Maria Torreh posed with her at the event.
