Responders are at the scene of a New York City raging fire and a building has collapsed, Newsday reports according to the Associated Press.

The Fire Department of New York says that one person has been critically injured.

NYC Fire Wire Twitter account posted a photo of the five-story building on Second Avenue and Seventh Street as orange flames and black smoke covered the location.

Right before the fire, there were some reports about an explosion and that the area was being evacuated.

Recently, a Brooklyn house fire killed seven children from an Orthodox Jewish family Saturday making it New York City's deadliest fire in years, Reuters reports.

The 45-year-old mother of the seven children and their teenage sister were able to survive the fire after jumping from a window. They were reported to be in critical condition at a local hospital on Saturday.

At around midnight on Saturday, a hot plate caught fire on the kitchen counter causing flames to travel up the stairs. The family was using the hot plate to warm food on the Sabbath, according to Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro.

"This is an unbelievable tragedy," New York Mayor Bill de Blasio told reporters. "Every New Yorker is feeling this pain right now."

De Blasio said the inside of the house is completely damaged from the fire.

"You can literally see what was a home for a large and strong family and now it is wiped out, every room empty and burned," he said.

There are no immediate further details about the current fire on Second Avenue in Manhattan.
