Fifty Shades of Grey Movie Pics, Rumors, and Updates: New Pictures of Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele
When Dakota Johnson was cast as Anastasia Steele in the film adaptation of Fifty Shade of Grey, many fans were outraged. Their biggest complaint was that Johnson did not look the part. Recent pictures of the actress in costume can help settle that dispute.
Yesterday, E! Online captured photos of Johnson on the set of the Fifty Shades of Grey movie.
Johnson was seen in a pair of classic short tan Uggs. A long navy blue jacket covered Johnson's plain white shirt, which was tucked into a plain green skirt with a bit of ruffles. She also carried a grey backpack. In order to fit the look of the plain, naïve, simple Washington State University student, Johnson appeared to wear no make-up and her newly brunette hair was wavy and casual.
These latest pictures will certainly help fans determine if their original judgments were correct. Can Johnson pass for Anastasia Steele?
I just really understand it," Johnson told Entertainment Weekly in November. "I think it's an incredible love story, and that's why it's affected so many people. Erica [author E.L. James] did a really good job of explaining how that just can happen sometimes, and you have this chemical pull to someone. Adding in the sex makes it perfect. Sometimes you feel a little bit naughty, and that's okay."

Production for the film began on Monday in Vancouver, Canada. On the first day of filming, photos snapped by paparazzi showed Johnson as Anastasia Steele in an army-green denim jacket and fashion scarves. Meanwhile, Jamie Dornan dressed in true Christian Grey style, like the kinky, wealthy, sex fiend he is. The "Once Upon a Time" actor was seen in a black three-piece suit with a flashy timepiece on his wrist.
The other cast members have not been nearly as debated as Johnson. Yesterday, Dylan Neal was announced as Bob Adams, the father of Anastasia Steele and the husband of Carla Adams, played by Jennifer Ehle. Marcia Gay Harden will play Dr. Grace Trevelyan Grey, the adopted mother of Christian Grey, as well as his siblings, Mia Grey, played by British singer-songwriter Rita Ora, and Elliot Grey, played by Luke Grimes. Max Martini has joined the cast as Jason Taylor, Christian's bodyguard. Eloise Mumford will play Kate Kavanagh, Anastasia's roommate. Meanwhile, Victor Rasuk has been cast as Jose, a photographer who dreams of making romantic Kodak moments with Anastasia.
Sam Taylor-Johnson is the director of the Focus Features and Universal Pictures movie. Michael De Luca, Dana Brunetti and James are producers.
Fifty Shades of Grey will be released just in time for Valentine's Day on Feb. 13, 2015.
