Russell Crowe Says Michael Jackson Used to Regularly Prank Call Him
Academy Award-winning actor Russell Crowe insists he was once tormented with so many prank phone calls from Michael Jackson he was left not knowing what to make of the legendary singer.
According to The NYDailyNews.com, the Australian-born actor alleges the "Beat It" crooner repeatedly phoned his hotel rooms over "two to three f*cking years," all of calls coming at the height of Crowe's reign over Hollywood.
"I never met him," Crowe said of Jackson. "Never shook his hand, but he found out the name I stayed in hotels under, so it didn't matter where I was, he'd ring up, do this kind of thing, like you did when you were 10."
Once he had him on the line, Crowe claims Jackson would launch into a verbal onslaught where he would ask, "'Is Mr. Wall there? Is Mrs. Wall there? Are there any Walls there? Then, what's holding the roof up?"
Crowe readily admits he was never amused by Jackson's alleged antics, adding: "You're supposed to grow out of doing that, right?"
Crowe sees the bizarre episodes as just another example of some of the crazed experiences he was forced to endure as he became a fixture in Hollywood. He became an Oscar-winning performer and starred in blockbuster flicks, such as "Gladiator."
"Even walking down the street was a pain," he added, according to The Guardian. "People want a piece of you."
The actor was once even approached by the FBI in 2001 regarding death threats made by Al Qaeda.
Crowe said: "I remember going to the Golden Globes and having, like, 16 security guys with me. I don't even know why ... and of course, people were like: 'Look at him, he thinks he's f--- Elvis.' And then one day they just weren't there anymore."
The soon-to-be-51-year-old actor has also starred in such films as "The Insider," "A Beautiful Mind," "American Gangster" and "L.A. Confidential." He won Oscars for his roles in "Gladiator" and "The Insider."
