When Javier Hernandez, aka "Chicharito," was brought into Real Madrid on loan at the start of the season, there were a lot of question marks.

For one, no one honestly believed that the youngster would get much playing time. But yet some felt that the Mexican's promise made him a good option as a backup striker.

But what has transpired has probably been more frustrating than the Mexican could ever have hoped for. And he let the world know.

"My situation is frustrating," he told Fox Sports after scoring Mexico's decisive goal against Ecuador during the international break. "I work hard and give 100 per cent in training, but as far as playing matches go, my chances are minimal. I belong to a great team but I'm not part of the important bit, the actual games. Sometimes my confidence is down, even though I'm trying to make it high, with the help of the people who are always by my side and who support me."

So what exactly has been problematic for the player? He has played 13 matches for Real Madrid in Spain, totaling 217 minutes. He has started just once in the year and has three goals and one assist. In the Champions League, he has gotten more opportunities with two starts and three appearances from the bench; his minutes are at 180 in the competition.

The minutes he's played are a huge decline from even last season as a member of Manchester United, when he only started six games and totaled 840 minutes across 24 appearances. He scored four goals and provided two assists. If Chicharito played in the remaining 10 games and appeared in every single minute, his total minutes on the year would be at 1117, good for 13th on the team, as it currently stands.

But everyone knows, unless Karim Benzema suffers a season-ending injury (and even then that would not assure the Mexican more time), that this trend is likely to continue.

What is this likely to mean for Hernandez? That his time at Madrid will come to an end this summer. Things could change if he gets a chance and makes something out of it. But the most likely situation is that he continues to be frustrated on the bench and heads off to "greener" pastures in the summer.
