Easter falls on Sunday, April 5 this year, and children are getting ready to hunt for eggs on Saturday and Easter Day.

According to Mommy Poppins, there are several locations throughout the New York City area for Easter egg hunts this weekend.

For people who are looking for free Easter egg hunts in the City this year, check out the Easter Egg Hunt & Spring Festival in Harlem on Saturday, April 4. Children get to decorate cookies, play games and then enjoy an outdoor egg hunt in St. Nicholas Park.

Easter Eggstravaganza is also sponsoring a free egg hunt in the Target East Harlem Garden. This will be the community organization's third year throwing the event where children also get the chance to decorate eggs.

If families are up for something a little different this year, they can go on a scavenger hunt for egg icons hidden throughout the Children's Museum of Manhattan then collect a prize after completion.

The scavenger hunt will be held Saturday and Sunday and is free with admission.

The Community Easter Egg Hunt in West Village is completely free.

After attending the Easter service at 9:15 a.m. at the Church of St. Luke, children can follow the Easter bunny to the garden for the egg hunt although the hunt is open to the general public including those who don't attend the church service.

Another free Easter egg hunt followed by a church service will be held in Greenwich Village at the First Presbyterain Church of New York. Participants must bring their own baskets.

Aside from going on an Easter egg hunt, families can enjoy their day at the annual Easter parade. According to Time Out New York, the parade marches up Fifth Avenue from 49th Street to 57th Street.

People can see the parade clearly from the area surrounding the St. Patrick's Cathedral.
