Luis Suarez confirmed that Real Madrid expressed interest in acquiring him from Liverpool before he decided to move to FC Barcelona last summer.

Suarez, who was acquired by Barca via an €80-million transfer deal with Liverpool, said that Real Madrid tried to acquire him, but he did not hesitate to decide to move to FC Barcelona because he has always been interested in playing at Camp Nou.

"When I heard the name of Barca, I had no doubts," Suarez told COPE via ESPN FC. "I never imagined that Barcelona would come in for me. There were no second thoughts in any moment. It was the dream I had for many years, and it came true."

Suarez was a hot commodity last summer after tallying 31 goals and 12 assists in 33 English Premier League matches. The 28-year-old struggled to find his mark earlier in the season with Barcelona having several scoring options like Lionel Messi and Neymar.

In 21 Spanish La Liga appearances this season, Suarez has scored 10 goals and tallied nine assists. While his goal numbers are down this season, Suarez said that he is contented with his role this season, saying that it is also his job to make his teammates look better.

"I try to make my team mates' job easier," Suarez said in an interview. "If you wear the number 9 on your back and you're a striker, you need to score. But I am not obsessed with it, and I know my role in the team, because, aside from scoring goals, I have to help my teammates."

But while he is contented with his role and playing in Barcelona was a dream come true for him, Suarez also admitted that he is unsure about his future, hinting that he might not end his career at Camp Nou.

"I always wanted to be here, but being at a club like Barcelona you never know what will happen," Suarez said. "These years could be spectacular, but then they bring in new players, which is normal. I do not know if I will end my career here, it will be difficult."

The Uruguay international previously said that he is open to returning to Liverpool later in his career. He also expressed interest in playing for Ajax again or giving back to his first club Nacional, who he credited for helping him reach the next level of his career.
