CW' 'The Flash' News Update: Warner Bros. Planning New Movie With Ezra Miller
With the success of the CW “The Flash” series, Warner Bros. seems to developing a Flash movie that will tie into the Justice League world Warner Bros. is developing.
According to Deadline, “The Lego Movie” and “21 Jump Street” writers and director Chris Miller and Phil Lord are developing big screen adaptation for the studio. There is no news whether Miller and Lord will direct, but it remains a possibility especially since the aforementioned films obtained rave reviews and were box office successes.
The Flash is already set to appear in “Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice” as Ezra Miller, star of “We Need to Talk About Kevin” and “The Perks of Being Wallflower,” has already been cast in the role. He is also set for “Justice League Part 1.” It is unclear which version of the Flash will be shown in the movie but based on the casting, The Flash will be a younger rendition than the current TV shows.
Currently, Grant Gustin is playing the Flash in CW’s series. The character, however, has been played by the John Wesley Shipp in the 1990 series and Kyle Gallner in “Smallville.”
Warner Bros. is attempting to create a DC world in the same way Disney did with Marvel comics. The company began with “Man of Steel” and later announced “Batman v. Superman.” That film will introduce a number of new comic book characters including Aquaman, Wonder Woman and Lex Luthor. Batman will also return after The Dark Knight series. The company is also working on Suicide Squad which will introduce a number of beloved villains from the DC world including Harley Quinn, Enchantress, The Joker and Deadshot. It is unknown how these two upcoming films will correlate but Warner Bros. already has films planned for the next few years.
The trailer for “Batman V. Superman” will be revealed before “Mad Max: Fury Road.” “The Flash” series airs every Tuesday on CW at 8 PM EST.
