Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is continuously being linked to a move to Manchester City especially if Los Blancos fail to win the Spanish La Liga title this season.

Ancelotti still has one year left in his contract with Real Madrid, but previous reports indicated that the 55-year-old could lose his job if his team fails to win the Spanish league title this season.

Real Madrid, the reigning Champions League titlists, are currently in second place in the Liga BBVA standings with 76 points in 32 games. Rivals FC Barcelona are on top of the table with 78 points in 32 matches.

According to reports, Ancelotti will likely move to Manchester City if current City manager Manuel Pellegrini also fails to retain his job at Etihad. Manchester City are the reigning English Premier League champions, but they are currently in fourth place with 64 points and are 12 points behind league-leading Chelsea.

However, Daily Star reported that Ancelotti and Manchester City are far apart in terms of expected salary. Ancelotti is earning £7.1 million per year at Bernabeu, and he reportedly wants the same amount from Manchester City, who are currently paying Pellegrini £3.4 million.

"Ancelotti has been sounded out about the City job by a third party," a source privy to the situation of Ancelotti told Daily Star. "But he thinks the salary being talked about is not enough."

Earlier this week, Ancelotti admitted that he is unsure about his future with Real Madrid. The Italian football manager said he has not talked to his team about an extension, but he also claimed that he has not made contact with Manchester City or any other clubs about a possible deal.

"We have spoken about sitting down to talk about a new deal but never set a concrete date to meet. I'm not in any hurry. I have another year on my contract," Ancelotti told Tiempo Extra. "If the club does not call me to renew today, maybe they will call in September, or December, or maybe nobody calls me. I am not going to ask for it."

When asked about rumors suggesting he could be fired after the current season, Ancelotti said in an interview with Sport-English that he expects to return for the final year of his contract next season even if they fail to win the domestic league title or lose the Champions League crown.
