Kris Humphries, the ex-husband of Kim Kardashian, posted a controversial tweet on Friday, April 24, following Bruce Jenner's candid interview announcing his transition to become a woman, Us Weekly reports.

On Friday, Diane Sawyer's interview with Jenner aired on ABC. The Olympian athlete revealed that he is transitioning to become a woman and has struggled with his gender identity for years.

Following the interview, Jenner's fans, many celebrities, and the Kardashian clan all tweeted their support of Jenner's transition. However, Humphries posted a snarky tweet that many believe was directed at Jenner and the Kardashian family.

Check out Humphries' tweet below.

Humphries' tweet was immediately met with backlash for social media users who labeled the NBA star as ignorant and pointed out that it was Kim who initially filed for divorce and "got out" of their marriage.

Following the backlash, Humphries clarified what he meant by the tweet and insisted that he is in full support of Bruce's transition. Humphries also apologized to those who misinterpreted his tweet and noted that the tweet was vague.

Now that he has shared his story, Jenner will continue to document his transition on a new E! docu-series. Jenner's E! documentary will be an eight part series that will premiere on July 26 at 9 p.m. EST.

Jeff Olde, the VP of E! programming and development commented on the series and Jenner's courageous announcement. Olde described Jenner a "incredibly courageous and an inspiration" and said that E! is in full support of his decision and proud of him.

"This series will present an unfiltered look as Bruce boldly steps into uncharted territory and is true to himself for the first time," Olde said.
