Abigail Breslin took to her personal Tumblr account "Mixtapes & Winter Coats" on Sunday to defend Selena Gomez from social media haters who have harshly criticized the singer about her weight.

Breslin, 19, wrote on her blog, "All this stuff about Selena Gomez online in her bathing suit is RIDICULOUS."

She continued: "Everyone is always saying how we shouldn't judge each other, so why are you commenting on a gorgeous, talented and smart young girl's body when she's on the beach having fun with her friend AND SHE LOOKS AMAZING. Aren't there more important things the world can be reporting on??"

Breslin's blog post refers to pictures of Gomez wearing a pink bikini that surfaced earlier this month. The singer had been on vacation with friends in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The picture garnered harsh online criticism about "The Spring Breakers" actress, 22, being overweight.

On April 16, Gomez took aim at the haters on Instagram by posting another swimsuit picture with the caption, "I love being happy with me y'all #theresmoretolove."

Breslin, who stars in the upcoming "Scream Queens," ended her blog post by blaming public fat-shaming for eating disorders in young women.

"I think if we all took the time we spend making each other feel bad about ourselves and used it to make each other feel good, the world would be a better place," she wrote. "Oh and also if we taught girls they had more newsworthy qualities than how they fit into a bikini, we'd have a lot more happy girls."

She wrapped up the piece by telling the "Heat Wants What It Wants" singer, "You look amazing and more importantly look like you're having fun. Keep rocking those bikinis."

Breslin, like Gomez, started her entertainment career as a child actor. In July 2012, she was cast in the film "August: Osage County" alongside Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep, which received rave reviews.

The actress stars in the upcoming "Scream Queens," Fox's horror-comedy anthology series also starring Jamie Lee Curtis, Keke Palmer, Lea Michele, Emma Roberts and Joe Manganiello.
