Will Marvel characters Deadpool and Wolverine be united in the upcoming Ryan Reynolds-led film "Deadpool?"

Reynold's role as Deadpool began back in 2009 when he debuted as the character opposite Hugh Jackman in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." While the film was pretty much a flop compared to the massive heights of other films in the franchise, Reynolds is back and ready to rumble.

According to Australian News Limited, the husband of actress Blake Lively spoke about the upcoming film currently in production in Vancouver.

When the Canadian was asked about Jackman (Wolverine) and whether the Aussie hunk would make an appearance in the film, Reynolds was all over the idea.

God I hope so, that would be really nice. I dunno, we'll see. It seems like he's open to it, but it's gonna be more of a scheduling issue than anything else.

The scheduling concerns that Reynolds mentions has to do with the movie "X-Men: Apocalypse" which is currently filming in Montreal. However, Uproxx does note that in all of the X-Men films, Wolverine has made an appearance. The site noted that "Deadpool" is part of the X-Men Cinematic Universe, so there's always a possibility.

The version of Deadpool in the Wolverine film was one that fans didn't appreciate. As reported by Cinema Blend, Deadpool's character was delivered as a tragically disfigured mutant experiment of William Stryker.

Deadpool had his mouth surgically shut and featured different abilities from different mutants which was suppose to turn him into the perfect-mutant. He had internal healing abilities, Wolverine's claws, Cyclops' eye beams as well as Kestrel's teleportation abilities. The result was, per the publication, a "plastic surgery nightmare."

The comment follows the recent confirmation of Jackman that "X-Men: Apocalypse" will be his last film playing the clawed mutant.

"It is my last time," said the 46-year-old, as quoted by NY Daily News.

"It just felt like it was the right time to do it. And let's be honest, 17 years. I never thought in a million years it would last, so I'm so grateful to the fans for the opportunity of playing it. I kind of have in my head what we're going to do in this last one. It just feels like this is the perfect way to go out," he added.

Reynolds is joined by other actors including T.J, Miller, Gina Carano, Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein and Brianna Hilderbrand.

The highly anticipated film "Deadpool" will hit theaters on February 12, 2016.
