Miley Cyrus News: 'Wreckling Ball' Singer Came Out as Bisexual to Her Mom at 14
Miley Cyrus has opened up in an interview with Paper Magazine about herself, her family and the life she lives now after a very successful child star career on the Disney Channel.
Cyrus has been outspoken lately on social media about lawmakers attempts to curb gay rights in key states, such as Indiana and Arkansas. The singer recently launched the Happy Hippie Foundation, which seeks to support homeless and gay youth.
In the candid interview with Paper Magazine, Cyrus talked about her life growing up in Nashville, famous "cool hippie pyscho freak" father Billy Ray Cyrus and "super cosmic" mother Tish.
In regards to her own sexuality, she also spoke about the nature of her feelings on the topic.
"I am literally open to every single thing that is consenting and doesn't involve an animal and everyone is of age. Everything that's legal, I'm down with. Yo, I'm down with any adult -- anyone over the age of 18 who is down to love me," Cyrus told Paper Magazine. "I don't relate to being boy or girl, and I don't have to have my partner relate to boy or girl."
In regards to relationships with women she told the magazine that it has happened, but it's never in the tabloids like her relationships with Liam Hemsworth.
"I've had that," Cyrus admitted. "But people never really looked at it, and I never brought it into the spotlight."
Cyrus remembers talking to her mother about the feelings she had toward women when she was just 14.
"I remember telling her I admire women in a different way. And she asked me what that meant. And I said, I love them. I love them like I love boys," Cyrus said. "And it was so hard for her to understand. She didn't want me to be judged and she didn't want me to go to hell. But she believes in me more than she believes in any god. I just asked for her to accept me. And she has."
Her own foundation to support homeless and LGBT youth has been a focal point for her lately. She has done "Backyard Sessions" where she teamed up with other pop stars, including Joan Jett and Ariana Grande, to help promote the foundation and raise funds for the cause.
