Season 2 of the comic-based, crime-drama "Gotham" will bring a host of new villains and allies after the departure of two key players, gangster Fish Mooney and Don Salvatore "the Boss" Maroni.

Dr. Leslie Thompkins (Morena Baccarin) will continue on as Det. James Gordon's love interest on the series. Harvey "Two-Face" Dent will become a regular fixture on the series, as well as Lucius Fox, future comrade and Bruce Wayne's business manager. Nick D'Agosto will reprise his role as Dent. Also, Chris Chalk was announced to portray Fox during March of this year.

"[Lucius] becomes another person who's going to help Bruce on his journey to find out what happened to his parents and what his parents were doing, and also his journey to manhood and Batman-hood," said executive producer John Stephens.

Likely to air September 2015, fans will become acquainted with a bevy of bad guys who've already been confirmed for the upcoming season, including Mr. Freeze, Clayface, Mad Hatter and the Joker.

"We're going to find out how the hell Jerome, the proto-Joker we met earlier in [the first] season, connects with the Joker as people known him," showrunner Bruno Heller told The Hollywood Reporter. "That's the big focus of the beginning of the second season. We're going to tell the story of how the Joker came to be. That's teaser enough, I think."

The backstories of Hugo Strange and Scarecrow will also be shown on the series, and upcoming season will show expanded exploration into the backgrounds of Catwoman, Poison Ivy and the new King of Gotham, Oswald "Penguin" Cobblepot.

"Gotham" will return to FOX on Monday evenings this fall.
