NBA Trade Rumors 2015: Toronto Raptors Eyeing Kenneth Faried? Detroit Pistons Get Ersan Ilyasova
The Toronto Raptors are expected to make moves in the offseason after failing to go deep into the playoffs again this season and reports indicated that they could pursue Kenneth Faried.
The Nuggets are reportedly planning to make major changes, and it could mean parting ways with Faried and starting point guard Ty Lawson. According to NBA analyst Chuck Myron, the Raptors are desirable landing spot for Faried via a trade on 2015 NBA Draft day on June 25.
The Sacramento Kings could also make a push to acquire Faried, but Myron believes they are more interested in getting Lawson. George Karl previously coached Faried and Lawson when he was still with the Nuggets.
"The Nuggets haven't hidden the idea that major changes are on the way," Myron said via FanSided. "The Raptors, with former Nuggets GM Masai Ujiri in place, make sense as a suitor for Kenneth Faried, and perhaps the Kings, too. The Kings also make sense for Lawson."
It remains to be seen, though, whether or not they will be give up their 20th overall pick in the upcoming draft in the deal for Faried, who averaged 12.6 points to go along with 8.9 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 75 games last season.
Detroit Pistons Acquire Ersan Ilyasova From Milwaukee Bucks
The Detroit Pistons and Milwaukee Bucks have officially started the offseason wheeling and dealing.
The Pistons acquired sweet-shooting forward Ersan Ilyasova from the Bucks in exchange for veterans Caron Butler and Shawne Williams.
Ilyasova, who spent his entire seven seasons in the league in Milwaukee since being selected in the second round of the 2005 NBA Draft, averaged 11.5 points on 47.2 percent shooting from the field last season. The 28-year-old also posted 4.8 rebounds per game and shot 38.9 percent from the 3-point region.
Pistons coach and president of basketball operations Stan Van Gundy said that he has targeted Ilyasova since he took reigns in Detroit because of the Turkey native's ability to stretch the floor with his shooting.
"Ersan Ilyasova is a player we have coveted since we got to Detroit," Van Gundy said in a statement. "Not only is he a proficient three-point shooter that can stretch the floor, he is a high-energy, hard-playing guy who fits extremely well with how we want to play. We are excited about what he can add to our team."
On the other hand, the deal was primarily a salary-dumping move for the Bucks as both Butler and Williams are expected to be released this summer.
