Jim Carrey is the newest victim of Internet death hoax that was allegedly reported on January 14. The fake death of the comedian spread easily online as it even had a Facebook fan page that was named R.I.P. Jim Carrey.

According to The Examiner, the page gained one million likes just through the weekend it even stated details of the death hoax:

"At about 11 am ET on Sunday (January 12, 2014), our beloved actor Jim Carrey passed away. Jim Carrey was born on January 17, 1962 in Newmarket. He will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting and liking this page."

Numerous fans of the actor believed the fake news of the actor's death that some of them even left their messages of condolence. Twitter was also bombarded with a lot of posts about this latest celebrity death hoax.

It did not take long though before a representative of Jim Carrey confirmed that the actor is alive and that he was even spotted recently at the 2014 Golden Globes where he was one of the presenters.

The Bruce Almighty actor is the latest on the growing list of celebrity death hoaxes which also include Will Smith, Eminem, Morgan Freeman, Bill Cosby and the all timer Jackie Chan. The reason behind it remains obscure.

Meanwhile, after Jim Carrey smashed actor Shia LaBeouf during the 2014 Golden Globes by saying "Dying is easy. Comedy is hard... I believe it was Shia LaBeouf who said that" the Transformers actor gave his reactions over Twitter, USA Today reports.

Some of his tweets against Jim Carrey include:

"If you explain @JimCarrey you've killed him, Nobody knows if it's for real or not. That way he's immortal."

"At least I don't get arrested for indecency on major LA highways! Or abandon love child's"

"Jim Carrey states that he is deeply involved in his daughter's life - I accept that,regret tweet on the matter. Apologies to both parents."

All these made ex-girlfriend of Jim Carrey come to the defense of the actor and their child. EOnline stated that Jenny McCarthy expressed her outrage during her appearance at The View.

"You can attack myself, but don't bring my children into it. And I'm sure it's the same for Jim," she remarked. "Shia did apologize and Jim did take it, but the whole thing is, do not bring our children into it," the actress added.

On the other hand, LaBeouf decaled his retirement from the public life on January 10 after having been caught up in a lot of plagiarism issues with his recent attempt as a filmmaker.
