'Kung Fu Panda 3' Release Date & Plot: Leaked Chinese Trailer Reveals Po's Latest Look & New Villain
Ever since the ending of "Kung Fu Panda 2" hinted of a third film in the series, fans of Po and his martial artist animal friends have been eager to see what's next in their story.
A recent trailer for the upcoming film, dubbed in Chinese, has leaked online and it shows the newest villain Po and his friends will go up against.
The 50-second clip was uploaded on YouTube. However, the dialogue was in Chinese, which made it a challenge for English-speaking viewers to understand. Luckily, the official synopsis of "Kung Fu Panda 3" is already available and it allows the fans to have an understanding of what is happening in the trailer.
Towards the end of the second "Kung Fu Panda" film, it was hinted that Po will soon meet his real father, a panda that survived the raid of their village, in the next movie. The two will rekindle their father-son relationship and will travel "to a secret panda paradise to meet a score of hilarious new panda characters," according to the official synopsis.
The clip also shows Po sporting his famous conical hat, but this time, he completes the look with a cape.
While the two were away bonding with each other, Kai also known as "The Collector," has been making the rounds all over China to subdue all existing kung fu masters. This leaves Po with no choice but to save the remaining masters and teach his newfound panda friends kung fu to fight off Kai.
Of course, the Dragon Warrior's furious five friends are not far behind and Tigress, Mantis, Monkey, Viper and Crane were are seen taking part in the action.
Meanwhile, stars who have lent their voices to the band of funny characters are back in the third movie. Jack Black reprises his role as Po, Angelina Jolie as Tigress, David Cross as Crane, Jackie Chan as Monkey, Lucy Liu as Viper and Seth Rogen as Mantis.
Joining them are Rebel Wilson who will be the voice behind Mei-Mei, a new character that will be seen in the third film. USA Today described the character as a "a wannabe ribbon dancer." Bryan Craston of "Breaking Bad" is also on board as the voice of Li, Po's long-lost panda father.
Jennifer Yuh, who directed "Kung Fu Panda 2," returns to the directorial chair beside animator Alessandro Carloni to helm "Kung Fu Panda 3."
The movie will be out in 2D and 3D theaters on January 29, 2016, and an English trailer is set to come out soon for U.S. viewers.
