‘Outlander’ Season 2 Spoilers & News: Jamie’s Former Flame Will Be Played by French Actress Margaux Chatelier
Season 2 of the hit Starz series "Outlander" is really starting to take shape now with the official casting of Jamie's previous love interest in the Diana Gabaldon series of books, according to TV Line.
French actress Margaux Chatelier will be playing Annalise de Marillac, who is the character Jamie was in love with prior to his relationship with Claire. This is sure to ramp up the drama and tension in a show that has already proven to be filled with overwhelming scenes of morbid character fallacies and rampant deviousness.
Chatelier will play the French beauty capable of sticking a thorn between Jamie and Claire's already vulnerable relationship. The Highlander already had a history with Marillac and intimate knowledge that could potentially lead to an explosive confrontation with Claire.
Also, the role of Monsieur Joseph Duverney has gone to another French actor, Marc Duret. Duverney is the middle-aged Minister of France, and the well-dressed aristocrat has powers that can supersede those that Jamie and Claire are fighting to overturn so they can accomplish their tasks within the aversion of the Jacobite Rebellion.
Duverney also squares off with Claire quite often at chess, which leads to some comical turns in the upcoming Parisian set season.
According to E! News, executive producer Ronald Moore had a few things to say about Season 2 taking place in Paris.
"It's a great setting, and what was one of the most populated cities (Paris) in the world at that time. French society, it's Aristocracy, the colors are brighter. You're talking about fine linens and silks, you're talking about gilt chandeliers, you know, everything that your mind conjures up when you say Versailles or Paris of that era," Moore told E! News.
Moore also said that the setting of Season 2 is going to be so much different than the Scottish setting fans are used to. It's going to be like watching a whole new show with a few of the same characters. The political overtones and the conspiracies will be much more present in this next season.
