'Street Fighter 5' Release Date & Characters: Bridie & Cammy Revealed in Trailer, Beta Coming in July?
Sony recently unveiled the newest trailer for the upcoming Street Fighter V video game at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles on Tuesday. The trailer also showed the two latest fighters will join the roster of playable characters when the video game comes out.
In the video, both Birdie and Cammy were seen in fighting form. Birdie was last seen in Alpha 3, which came out in 1998.
According to Game Spot, Birdie is equipped with numerous V-skills that involve food or drink. The fighter can use simple banana peel to delay an opponent by allowing him to slip on it as he throws it on the floor. He can also use an empty sports drink can as weapon by utilizing it to knock down his attacker and keep him immobilized for a few seconds.
But for Birdie, consuming huge amounts of hot pepper takes him to another level where his power is enhanced by it and this becomes his V-Trigger.
Meanwhile, Cammy returns to the game with new upgrades although most of her former moves have not been changed. She now comes with a Spin Knuckle for a V-Skill.
Her V-Trigger is multiple copies of herself that can attack her opponents at the same time.
According to the dedicated page for "Street Fighter V" on PlayStation, the upcoming game is the first time Capcom will introduce the V-Skill, V-Trigger, V-Reversal and Critical Arts battle mechanics.
Currently, the game has revealed six characters on its roster, which includes M. Bison, Ryu, Nash and Chun Li.
While fans await the alpha version to be made available, Sony has announced that a beta version will be released in July for testing to the PlayStation 4 console. However, this will only be made available to those who have pre-ordered the title.
In addition, Capcom already confirmed rumors that the game is exclusive to the Sony PlayStation.
"One comment we see a lot is that something like a Super Street Fighter 5 is going to come out on Xbox," a Capcom representative told Game Spot. "But the reality is that this is a real partnership. We are console exclusive for this franchise for this numbered run."
No official announcement has been made on when the video game will officially launch. However, a post on the PlayStation Store shows that the "full game" release is set on Dec 31, 2016, but this could just be a default date.
