Ultimate Fighting Championship president Dana White is unsure if Jon Jones will return to the Octagon and if they will be able to arrange a fight card in New York.

Jones was stripped of his UFC light heavyweight title after getting involved in a hit-and-run accident in Albuquerque. He was supposed to face Anthony Johnson at UFC 187, but was replaced by Daniel Cormier, who eventually won the light heavyweight crown.

Jones, who was considered as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC before the incident, remains mum about his future. When asked about the future of their biggest superstar, White admitted that he does not know if fans will see Jones fight inside the Octagon again.

"He is just laying low and handling his business, man," White said of Jones in an interview with Sirius XM Fight Club. "I don't know when we are going to see him again. I honestly don't know."

Earlier this month, mixed martial arts coach Mike Winkeljohn, who has a close relationship with Jones, also admitted that Jones has yet to give a clue on whether he is planning to return to the Octagon or not.

"I'm looking forward to Jon turning his life around and becoming a better person," Winkeljohn told Submission Radio. "If he fights again or not, I'm not sure, but that's not important. What's real important right now is Jon getting help for himself and his family."

White also confirmed that they were previously planning to stage a fight card in New York that will be headlined by Jones, who hails from Rochester, New York. But until this point, White is still unsure if MMA will be legalized in New York.

"I guess I gotta say what I've been saying all along: I'm just going to sit back and see what happens," White said. "I just don't get too optimistic about New York any more, even though right now looks really optimistic. We'll see what happens."

And if MMA gets legalized in New York, White expressed confidence that they will be able to have a successful fight card with or without Jones in the event, but he admitted that it will be disappointing to New York fans.

"Yeah, fight fan, promoter and everything else, it would definitely suck," White added. "It would suck, but he's in a situation and he's got to handle his business. We will bring a good card there with Jon Jones or without him."
