A popular rapper from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was fatally shot Tuesday afternoon.

Police say that Shannen Hudson, 31, who was better known as his stage name Young Ready, was gunned down along with another man on the north side of Bogalusa, Louisiana, around 3:30 p.m., reports Baton Rouge's WAFB-TV. The other victim has been identified as 28-years-old Jare Stevenson of Baton Rouge.

According to the Washington Parish Coroner's Office, one of the victims died from a single gunshot wound while the other was struck multiple times.

Before his death, Hudson gained local fame and began his own record label called Bow Entertainment. Other artists affiliated with his label include T-Dub, 31stDeedy, Lil Dundray, Young Crucial Juice, Lil Bam, Herbie, and Lit J.

"Ready's music was the voice of the streets of Louisiana and other areas," Kaleel Cain, Young Ready's social network promoter, told KLFY News. "He will be truly missed."

As of Thursday afternoon, Maj. Edward Gomez, the lead BPD investigator on the case, said there were still no suspects in the case.

"We're looking at several things right now. We're running down names, but they're either dead or already in jail," Gomez said, according to The Daily News. "We're running down phone numbers. I hate to say it was drug-related, but the evidence we collected at the scene will be sent to the Crime Lab."

Gomez said that officials are examining cell phones that may have belonged to the victims.

"We've got some guys going out of town to check on some leads and talk with other departments," Gomez said. "We have several phones seized as evidence. We believe the victims likely had conversations with the suspects, but that is nothing definite."

Meanwhile, those affected by the loss of Young Ready, who would have turned 32-years-old on July 8, expressed their grief on Twitter.

"RIP Young Ready. Always had a positive attitude every time I spoke to him," tweeted @SheBeGoingHard.
