Season 2 of the thrilling crime series "Gotham" will return in just a few short months, and the creators of the sophomore series has a number of surprises in store for its thirsty audience.

During the impending episodes, the stakes are going to be higher than ever, and Bruce Wayne and Detective Jim Gordon are going to come face-to-face with some of Gotham's most depraved super villains, including The Riddler, The Joker and Mr. Freeze. Also, fans will see Bruce Wayne learn more about his father's past as he matures into his avenging alter-ego, Batman.

James Frain ("True Blood," "Agent Carter") joined the cast of "Gotham," and he will be teamed with actress Jessica Lucas ("Cloverfield," "Evil Dead") as a destructive, dynamic duo. Frain will portray Theo Galavan, who is a "sexy, heroic, and lovingly devoted to his sister Tabitha (aka Tigress)." Theo will apparently take violence and chaos to a fresh new level, and both will bleed Gotham and breed new villains... and destroy others.

Tigress is an enforcer for her brother, who is a billionaire industrialist determined to be the new chief of Gotham. The sexy knock-out is violent, carries a bullwhip and has a personality that's opposite to the cold and calculating Theo, who derives pleasure from increasing mayhem in Gotham.

When searching for someone to cast as Theo, the show advertised they were looking for "intelligent, cultured, and highly articulate ... extremely attractive, both seductive and threatening male DC villain and a female (possibly his counterpart?), a sexy knock-out." Show runners found this in James Frain and Jessica Lucas.

Interestingly enough, while there are a few different minor DC Comics villain known as Tigress, neither has the name Tabitha Galavan. One example dates back to her debut in Action Comics #1 (the same debut as Superman), and another is named Paula Brooks, a character who began her journey as a hero before transitioning into a villain.

"Gotham" airs Mondays on FOX with the second season set to premiere on Sept. 21.
