Cameron Diaz is desperately working behind the scenes in hopes of helping in-laws Nicole Richie and Joel Madden patch up their troubled marriage.

Radar reports the "Something About Mary" star, who is married to Madden's brother, Benji Madden, recently convinced Ritchie "to stop her divorce proceedings for now." A source later added, "Ever since Cam got married, Nicole's been turning to her for advice."

Diaz and Benji were married six months ago, more than three years after Richie and Joel Madden exchanged their vows. The paths the two longtime friends have taken since their unions became official seem as different as night and day.

Cameron and Benji were recently rumored to be planning to soon start a family together with Diaz set to take some time off from her busy Hollywood schedule in hopes of helping to make their dreams come dream.

"All she wants is to stay home and enjoy this special time in her life," said a source, hinting that Diaz is well aware of her husband's well-documented love of children.

Meanwhile, Nicole and Joel already have two young children together and reportedly Benji has been strongly advising his brother that he needs to do all he can to preserve his marriage for the sake of his children, 7-year-old Harlow and 5-year-old Sparrow.

"Benji loves Nicole and Joel and thinks they can work it out," said a source. "If they just spend more time together and stop making their careers a priority."

The 42-year Diaz is also known for starring is such films as "Feeling Minnesota," "My Best Friend's Wedding," "What Happens in Vegas," "Charlie's Angels," "Any Given Sunday," "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas," "A Life Less Ordinary" and "Being John Malkovich."
