Google Glass 2 Release Date & Features Update: Device Adds Prescription Lens, Designer Frame and Sunglass Options
Google now presents new styles in the form of prescription lenses, frames and shades for the wearable device, reports Mashable.
The makers of the rod-like wearable gadget present the Titanium collection on Google Glass' promotional page. The new collection features lightweight titanium frames for Glass in four styles: Curve, Bold, Thin and Split.
Google Glass has now also been redesigned specifically for outdoor use. The wearable device will be available in three styles of shades: Edge, Classic and Active, says the Glass website.
Mashable notes in another report that the new Titanium collection is the answer to individuals who are farsighted and nearsighted, making prescription eyewear finally within grasp. The report goes on to say that anyone with Glass can buy the new custom "designer" frames directly from Google.
Those who are not into the Titanium collection can look into the equally new removable twist-on shades, says Mashable. Though Google markets the shades collection for outdoor use, the designs in the collection could very work well for those who are in search for an edgier look.
Google Glass' good news doesn't end there as the makers also announced that wearers of the device can get subsidized frames and lenses.
"Whether you wear prescription glasses or just want a new look, we've got four feather-light titanium frames designed just for you. And if you need prescription lenses and have vision insurance (such as VSP), your policy might even help cover your new frames" reads the Google+ announcement.
Unfortunately, Glass won't be out for public sale anytime soon, says Mashable. But, those who are interested and cannot wait to get their hands or eyes, for that matter, on the device, can sign up as a Glass Explorer.
"The Explorer Program is designed for people who want to get involved early and help shape the future of Glass. We're expanding little by little, and experimenting with different ways of bringing new Explorers into the program," reads the Glass Explorer webpage.
Those who already have Glass can head on to the Glass store and choose their desired frames available in five colors: Charcoal, Cotton, Shale, Tangerine and Sky. Glass costs $1,500 while frames cost $225 each, plus tax, quotes Mashable.
