Jamaica vs. El Salvador Gold Cup 2015: Preview, Predictions, Stream, Lineups, Schedule
Jamaica will look to wrap first place in Group B when it faces El Salvador in its final game of the group Tuesday.
Jamaica has had a surprisingly solid run to date. Most expected the team to get out of the group, but few would have had the Reggae Boyz taking complete control of Group B and putting themselves in a comfortable situation in the knockout rounds. The winner of Group B plays the runner-up of Group A; at this moment that could be Panama, Honduras or Haiti. None of those teams has managed a solid run in the tournament to date and may not have enough for a solid Jamaican side.
Jamaica pulled off an impressive 2-2 draw against Costa Rica; Jamaica scored the opener of that contest but still fought back in the second half and scored an early goal. In the ensuing game the team struggled against Canada but got a goal in stoppage time to earn a much-needed three points to pull away from the group.
El Salvador enters its final game with two points and needing a huge performance to have any chance of making it out of the group. A draw would likely see the team through to the knockout rounds, but a win would secure passage to the knockout rounds; with a win El Salvador has a chance to win the group.
The team drew 0-0 with Canada in its opening, an unsurprising result considering the fact that both sides are seen as minnows. However, in its follow-up game the team surprise with determined performance against Costa Rica. With the clock winding down, Dustin Corea scored a stoppage time goal to salvage one point for the side.
Prediction: A 1-1 draw.
Start Time: 6 p.m. EST Tuesday
The game can be streamed live on Fox Soccer 2Go.
