Halle Berry Back in Court Seeking to Reduce Gabriel Aubry's Child Support
Halle Berry has grown tired of being Gabriel Aubry's "meal ticket" and is asking a judge to reduce the amount of monthly child support she gives him.
The "Monster's Ball," Academy Award-winning actress is set to appear in court this week seeking to have payments for their 7-year-old daughter reduced from $16,000 to somewhere in the neighborhood of $3,000 per month.
According to TMZ, Berry is on record expressing she's willing to pay Aubry so he can properly care for their daughter Nahla when he has custody but has become convinced he is now using the sizable payments as a way of avoiding having to work.
A model by profession, Aubry still claims he lost a lot of work stemming from a brawl he had with Berry's husband Olivier Martinez where he suffered several face injuries.
At the time of ordering Berry to fork over the almost $200,000 a year in child support, LA Superior Court Judge Scott Gordon also ordered her to pay her ex a retroactive payment of $115,000 and cover his nearly $300,000 in legal fees.
As for the 2012 Thanksgiving holiday brawl between Aubry and Martinez, the parties later decided to settle their differences without legal proceedings.
"The parties have reached an amicable agreement. There will be no further statements regarding this matter," Berry's attorney Blair Berk said in a handwritten message outside court back then.
The statement came from both Berk and Aubry's attorney Shawn Holley. Of the three, Aubry was the only one who showed up at the courthouse, wearing dark-colored shades to hide the bruises on his face from the fight.
No criminal charges were ever filed in the case, and police deemed the altercation "mutual combat."
