NBC executives are rumored to be planning to recruit NBA legend and esteemed businessman Earvin "Magic" Johnson as a potential "Celebrity Apprentice" replacement for Donald Trump.

TMZ reports network execs are intent on finding "a successful minority businessperson who's active in the inner cities," a description that fits 55-year-old Johnson in spade. In addition to being a minority stakeholder in the Los Angeles Dodgers, Johnson was also named by Ebony Magazine as one of "America's most influential black men" in 2009.

Johnson has also previously been a part owner of the Los Angeles Lakers and has owned a string of movie theatres in inner city neighborhoods. While there have been no formal talks between the two sides, Johnson is said to be at the head of a short list that also includes Latino TV host and comedian George Lopez.

Reportedly, Lopez also fits the bill for NBC execs, many of whom are rumored to be salivating at the idea of replacing Trump with a Latino.

Since announcing his 2016 presidential run for the White House as a republican, Trump has been an outspoken critic on current immigration policy and has voiced strong condemnations of illegal immigrants and the Mexican government as a whole in many of his speeches.

It hasn't come without a price. The Washington Post reports a new Univision poll finds that 7-in-10 Hispanic registered voters say they have an unfavorable impression of Trump. In addition, 9-in-10 of those surveyed said they have heard about Trump's comments, and when read specific remarks, nearly 8-in-10 say they find them offensive.

Over the last two presidential election cycles, Republicans have lost the Hispanic vote by overwhelming margins and the fear among party leaders is that things could be even worse with the controversial and outspoken Trump now crisscrossing the country offering his perspective and ginning up conservatives.
