OnePlus 2 Availability: Invite System Open to More Users
The OnePlus One is a superb smartphone from a newcomer, but getting one when it first was released was not an easy task. The OnePlus 2 will use the same invite-only purchase method when it is first released, but invites will be easier to get a hold of, according to Tech Radar.
In a recent blog post, OnePlus has noted that they have made some changes to the invite system. These changes should make it much easier for more people to receive an invite in order to purchase the OnePlus 2.
Besides more invites, there will also be way more devices available when the phone is launched. In fact, there will be as many as 30-50 times more inventory of the OnePlus 2 than there was of the OnePlus One. With more devices, more invites will go out.
It will be easier to get onto OnePlus' invite list with a reservation system. Future customers will simply sign up for the reservation list, and then, when an invitation is available, they will be sent one. In the past, in order to get an invite from OnePlus, customers had to be a OnePlus community member or participate in company promotions. Forum supporters will still be first in line to receive an invite.
Once a customer is successfully able to get their invite and then purchase the OnePlus 2, they will be able to start inviting their friends. These shareable invites were available with the OnePlus One, but they will go out much faster for the OnePlus 2.
These changes to the invite system mean that more customers will be able to purchase the OnePlus 2 without having to painfully wait for the invite-only system to end. It took months for the OnePlus One to be taken off the invite-only system and released to the general public.
OnePlus says that the invite system is the best way to introduce the new phone. One slight change that might get future OnePlus 2 owners excited is the fact that they will receive a physical invite card, instead of just an email.
