Angry Birds 2 Coming to iPhone July 30
After the original Angry Birds was released, multiple spinoffs followed. These spinoffs made alterations to the characters or the levels, like Star Wars characters or space levels. Now, an official sequel called Angry Birds 2 is coming to the iPhone July 30, Gotta Be Mobile reports.
Game developer Rovio confirmed that Angry Birds 2 is coming to the iPhone at the end of the month. Rovio hopes that the popularity of the previous Angry Birds games will continue.
Angry Birds involves birds being shot at various obstacles and pigs by a slingshot. Various birds had different capabilities that allowed them to be shot at an extreme rate of speed or drop bombs.
The success of the original game led to the companion games like Angry Birds Star Wars. Angry Birds 2 will likely be very similar to the original Angry Birds with some improvements made and some new levels.
Rovio is not releasing details on Angry Birds 2, besides its release date. For now, it is only known that the game will be available to iPhones. The new Angry Birds 2 website invites interested users to subscribe to the newsletter for updates on the game.
When the game is available for download, Rovio wants to send out subscribers the link to download the game. The announcement on the website says that the game is coming to "App Stores," which is a hint that it could at least make it to Android as well.
Angry Birds games are free-to-play, but in-game power-ups and bonuses can be purchased with real money. Rovio is likely to copy this same plan and offer the game as a free download with in-app purchases available to get through the game faster.
The Angry Birds 2 website is counting down the days until the game is released. Rovio plans to release more information on the game on a regular basis before it is released.
In a blog post on Thursday, Rovio said that Angry Birds 2 will be "Bigger, Badder and Birdier," CNet reports.
