"The 100" has cast Zach McGowan to its Season 3 lineup, premiering in 2016 on the CW.

McGowan, who most recently blessed the TV screen on the Starz series "Black Sails," will portray a Grounder in the series, according to The Wrap. He will star opposite Eliza Taylor's Clarke, and his role will not just be an ordinary Grounder but rather a rogue that could be of particular interest to fans.

A rogue Grounder could have far-reaching implications, considering he does not have any allegiances. This could be especially useful to Clarke, who has herself essentially gone rogue and will look, at some point, for someone she can trust.

Roan, McGowan's character, is listed as recurring, But that could change should he become romantically involved with Clarke. His character has been described as a warrior who will do whatever it takes to get what he wants.

For those who are new to the sci-fi series, "The 100" centers around 100 delinquent teenagers aboard a vessel in space that sustained human life after the planet Earth became toxic. They were sent down to the planet to see if it was habitable. Once they arrived on Earth, many different situations have befallen them, which includes run-ins with those who never left the planet.

In addition to McGowan's role on "Black Sails," he also has a recurring role on Showtime's "Shameless." He was also featured alongside Luke Evans in the reimagining of the Bram Stoker classic "Dracula," in the film "Dracula Untold."

"The 100" returns to The CW next year in a midseason premiere.
