World Boxing Council welterweight silver titlist Amir Khan could face Filipino boxing icon Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao and fellow British boxer Kell Brook next year.

Khan thinks that 2016 is set to be a great year for him as he is in talks to stage possible bouts with the two fighters. Earlier this year, though, despite his repeated attempts to get Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s attention, the undefeated boxer seemed to have opted to fight Andre Berto in his Sept. 12 match at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.

"Everyone knows my position: I am ready to fight if they are serious about it. Bob Arum has contacted my team to fight Manny Pacquiao around March or April in Dubai. Let's see how that develops... Since Floyd is running scared, I want Pacquiao in 2016 when he is back from his injury; 2016 will be Amir Khan's year; you will see me in two of the biggest fights in that year," Khan told The National.

Khan vs aspiring senator Pacquiao?

However, a match against the Philippine pride is still bleak for now, as the 36-year-old veteran boxer could be eyeing a higher position and join the senatorial race in his home country in 2016. Pacquiao is serving as a congressman of the Sarangani province in Mindanao.

"Frankly from scale 1 to 100, it's still 50-50 in my chances to run for senator in 2016 although I must admit I have plans... but it will all depend on the plans and wishes of our creator for me," Pacquiao told The Philippine Star.

If "Pacman" decides to run in the elections and face Khan at the same time, he needs to allot much needed time in training. He was able to do so successfully in 2010, before he became a congress man. While campaigning, he faced and won via a unanimous decision against Joshua Clottey in Arlington, Texas, in March. Three years after, he faced Brandon Rios in Macao, China, but the fight was held several months after the elections in May.

Khan vs. Brook, finally?

Meanwhile, Khan may finally give his fellow British fighter a chance to clash with him next year. The undefeated boxer has been campaigning for "King Khan" to fight him.

Recently, Brook's promoter, Eddie Hearn, stated that he reached out to Khan again after it was reported by TMZ Sports that Mayweather is fighting Andre Berto in September and not him, Sky Sports noted.

Khan admitted to The National that he and Hearn talked about a possible Khan-Brook showdown at Wembley.

"I have made it clear to Eddie that I want this fight to be a big fight worldwide, not just in the UK. I told him Kell needs to fight a couple of big names and beat them, obviously. That will make our fight even bigger.

"The fight will be a Khan Promotions and Matchroom Promotions event in the UK, at Wembley Stadium," Khan explained.
