The free-spirited Jack Sparrow has a knack for saving the world but this does not erase the fact that he is a head case.

Although it has worked for him, he is as crazy as he is heroic. The fun and semi-intoxicated Captain doesn't always get his "act together."

The actor playing him for twelve years now, Johnny Depp, does.

The face behind Willy Wonka, the Mad Hatter, and Edward Scissorhands prides himself of being a professional as well as an acting chameleon. Although his life-story isn't perfect, he has managed to keep it all together in recent years.

Depp is a multi-award winning actor well versed in taking on diverse roles. However, the one that made him a global superstar is when he was cast as the adventurous pirate.

Yet if a recent rumor is true, the actor may have embodied the role too much, to the detriment of the production of the franchise's latest installment.

Cast and crew of "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man Tell No Tales" have just wrapped up production in Australia, according to the Gold Coast Bulletin. However, according to reports, things became gloomy on set while filming as their star seemed to have felt disinterested.

"Johnny has been on set as little as possible, only fulfilling his contract at the minimum level - and his mood has been completely affecting the whole operation of the production. Producers are worried that morale will be affected," a tipster told Naughty Gossip.

Other insiders even told Confidenti@l that the "Mortdecai" actor acted as if he didn't "want to be there." He seemed "checked out," and was "barely phoning it in."

In addition, Celeb Dirty Laundry reported that apparently, Depp had been drinking and feuding with wife Amber Heard.

Heard has her own battles to fight as she was summoned to an Australian court earlier this month. She is facing raps for failing to declare her terriers, Pistol and Boo, to airport authorities upon her arrival in Brisbane in April.

Moreover, Johhny and Amber's issues allegedly caused tensions during tapings. It was even claimed that Amber was banned from visiting Johnny on set at one time, Celeb Dirty Laundry wrote in another report.

The fifth installment in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise had its share of setbacks. It was initially scheduled to release in summer 2015 but a hand injury to Depp after a night of partying, coupled with inclement weather last March, have made it impossible to finish the film on time, BBC noted.

Where it currently stands, "Dead Man Tell No Tales" is scheduled to release in 2017.
