Selena Gomez Rehab: Star Enjoyed Marijuana, Xanax, & Ambien With Justin Bieber, Rumors Say
Earlier this month, Selena Gomez checked in and out of rehab before the media even noticed. Now, some are questioning her motives.
Radar Online reports that Gomez admitted herself into the Dawn at The Meadows Recovery facility on Jan. 5. According to a rep for the 21-year-old star, she was not in the Wickenburg, Arizona rehab facility for substance abuse, like much of young Hollywood.
"Selena voluntarily spent time at Meadows but not for substance abuse," the rep confirmed.
Not surprisingly, there are still rumors that Gomez had a partying problem, despite the rep's report.
"Dawn at The Meadows is a groundbreaking, intensive, experientially-based, inpatient treatment program for emerging adults ages 18-26 who struggle with emotional trauma, addiction, or dual diagnosis concerns," Gomez's former rehab facility's website says.
According to Radar Online, who accurately broke the news of Gomez's rehab stint, the "Come and Get It" singer's two-week stay was in fact fueled by her partying. One of the tabloid website's sources claims Gomez was "partying very hard" before entering rehab.
"With fame came a partying lifestyle," another "insider" said.
The website also alleges that Gomez was "experimenting" with drugs before entering Dawn at The Meadows including Xanax, Ambien and marijuana, which she reportedly enjoyed with her ex-boyfriend, Justin Bieber.
"I don't know whether Justin pushed her to drug use, but amongst their close knit group of friends, smoking was commonplace," a source claimed.
"Justin and Selena would smoke marijuana together regularly," another source added.
According to the tabloid, the pair hot-boxed Bieber's van while going to a theme park.
"Her friends and family became increasingly worried that there might be a serious problem with Selena, particularly her parents," another Radar Online source said. "The partying was, at times, wild. They wanted to help her, and they very much encouraged her to go to rehab. Others very close to her also urged her to seek professional help."
Claims of Gomez's drug abuse have yet to be confirmed and seem to lack credibility. The young star responsibly cancelled her Australian tour after realizing she was overworked, so giving her the benefit of the doubt seems like the best bet. Radar Online's accuracy in the rehab story itself, however, cannot be ignored.
