CW ‘The 100’ News: Pop Singer Shawn Mendes Added to the Cast for Season 3 [Pics]
Although there are no musical episodes slated for next year's season of "The 100" on the CW, there is going to be a musical connection added to the show.
Famous singer and recording artist Shawn Mendes has signed on to a role for Season 3 of the show, according to an article on E! News.
Fans know Mendes for his chart topping "Stitches" and he is set to appear on the show as a survivor of the Ark. His character will be a tricky, well-versed survivor who has acquired the skills necessary to survive over the years. This includes getting himself out of sticky situations with his unique talents.
Although his singing talents will not be put on display for the series, his acting skills will be put to the test on this fan-favorite series. It will be no easy task playing a role on a post-apocalyptic series where everything and everyone is up for grabs.
The lawlessness of Season 3, just as it has mostly been in the previous seasons minus a few exceptions, will be another avenue for the singer to showcase his entertainment skills.
There has been no word yet on whether his character will be interacting with Clarke on her mission or with Bellamy and the crew.
"Shawn is a big fan of the show, and reached out to me on Twitter about potentially working together," Executive Producer Jason Rothenberg told E! News. "He's a very talented artist, and we knew we wanted to do something special and different for the premiere. Shawn gave us a unique opportunity and I can't wait for our fans to see our collaboration."
Both Mendes and Rothenberg confirmed the news to fans on social media, posting photos of themselves with the announcement.
This is not the first time a singer has reached out as a fan of a show and requested an appearance. Singer Lady Gaga also reached out to "American Horror Story" creator Ryan Murphy and specifically requested a part in the upcoming season of "AHS: Hotel."
