'Arrow' Season 4 Spoilers: Elysia Rotaru to Play Oliver's Former Flame, 'Enlisted' Star Parker Young Cast as Thea's New Love Interest
"Olicity" fans who always believed that Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) would make the perfect couple were delighted to see the two finally become an official item at the end of Season 3 of "Arrow." However, in Season 4, viewers will meet a new love interest from Oliver's past who seems to be nothing like Felicity.
"Oliver is gonna have a love interest in the past that will serve as a parallel or potentially a contrast to his love affair with Felicity in the present," teased executive producer Marc Guggenheim, reports Entertainment Weekly.
According to EW, "Supernatural" star Elysia Rotaru will play the love interest from Oliver's past who will be featured in flashback scenes in the new season.
"We have a really great surprise for the season premiere for the flashbacks, and it's made talking about the flashbacks very difficult," Guggenheim also recently told EW. "We pick up basically in real time. It's been a number of months later since the last flashback. Oliver is in Coast City, as eagle-eyed viewers noted when he boarded the boat at the end of season 3."
Fans can also expect Thea to find love again in Season 4 now that her ex-boyfriend, Roy Harper (Colton Haynes), is no longer around. Willa Holland's character will fall for Alex Davis, a smart and driven young man who starts off working for Oliver. "Enlisted" star Parker Young has been cast to play the recurring role of Alex, reports ET.
TVLine adds that Thea will become so sprung over the "handsome, charming, witty" Alex that it will leave her saying "Roy who?"
In light of the upcoming season, Guggenheim also nixed rumors that Diggle (David Ramsey) will transition into the Green Lantern.
"He's not going to be Green Lantern," he told EW. "We have our own plans for Diggle that we've very excited about. It doesn't benefit us or David Ramsey to let that rumor fester. What excites us is what we're doing with Diggle this year and the fact that Diggle has become a character in the comics."
Furthermore, The Wrap teased that "True Blood's" Rutina Wesley has been recruited for an undisclosed role and "a multi-episode arc."
Season 4 of "Arrow" kicks off on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
