CW's 'The Flash' Season 2 Spoilers: Supergirl Will Not Show Up in Second Season
Supergirl will not crossover to CW's hit series "The Flash."
After speculation on whether the DC hero would make a special guest appearance, CBS and the CW made it clear that the two networks do not intend to join forces for a crossover episode.
According to E! News, at the Television Critics Association press tour, CBS boss Nina Tassler said, "We have not had conversations about the crossovers but we are doing crossover promotions. So you will see promotional crossovers [between those shows] but not with the characters."
Meanwhile "The Flash" showrunner Andrew Kreisberg told E! News, "Right now there are no specific plans [for a crossover]. Right now, Supergirl is its own show. I don't know what will happen in the future or whatever legal stuff has to happen as they're across two different networks. Right now, we're really happy with what we call the Arrow-verse, which is Arrow, The Flash and Legends. And we're just trying to make Supergirl the best show it can be on its own."
Kreisberg, who is also the showrunner for "Supergirl," also noted that "Supergirl" would make no references to other TV shows or other cities in DC's immense world. He said, "No, right now all you hear about on Supergirl is National City and Metropolis, and we're keeping it separate from the Arrow universe."
Crossovers should not be out of the question, especially since the CW has made sure to give numerous superheroes guest appearances on "The Flash." Additionally, it could benefit both the CW and CBS in terms of ratings and attention.
"Supergirl" stars Melissa Benoist, Laura Benanti, Mehcad Brooks and Calista Flockhart. Meanwhile "The Flash" stars Grant Gustin, Tom Cavanagh, Candice Patton and Carlos Valdes.
"Supergirl" is set to premiere on Oct. 26 on CBS while "The Flash" will premiere in September.
